Hey, adventurers!
Did you know we’re teaming up with Indigenous people and local heroes from all over the world to grow trees and look after 2 million hectares of tropical forests? That’s as big as Wales – wow, right?
Right here in Wales, we’re spreading the word about how super-important Indigenous communities are for protecting our planet and amazing wildlife.
And guess what? We’re on a mission to make Wales the first-ever Deforestation-Free Nation. Together, we can do it!

Amazing Tropical Forests!
Did you know our planet’s tropical forests are like Earth’s superpowers? They’re found near the equator (that’s the middle of the world!) and are totally essential for life. These forests:
- Suck up loads of carbon (keeping our air clean and helping to cool our planet!)
- Give us delicious food
- Help rain and rivers keep flowing
- Keep our planet’s climate balanced
- Give us medicine
Tropical forests are also bursting with wildlife wonders! They’re home to about 80% of all species we know and there are still so many more to be discovered! Just one tiny bit of forest (a hectare) can have 200 tree species and more than 40,000 insect species.
And guess what? Millions of people live there too – including Indigenous communities who’ve been caring for these forests for ages.
